Join the Red Horse Lab!
Undergraduate Students
Students can elect to receive course credit or explore paid opportunities:
- Undergraduate Research Bio-X
- Paid Undergraduate Research Positions
Paid undergraduates from other institutions are also accepted through the SSRP-AMGEN Scholars Program. We will also support students in applying for external funding, to provide stipends to cover paid summer internships.
Students will first be trained by working directly with a graduate student or postdoc in lab, and then provided with an independent research project. Preference will be given to students who are able to commit at least 10 hours per week to research related activities. We are enthusiastic about continuing to work with people from groups historically excluded from STEM. Prior research and lab experience are favorable but not required. Interested students should email Dr. Red Horse directly with one paragraph interest statement and an attached CV.
Graduate Students
We accept PhD students from the any of the Stanford Biosciences Programs, Bioengineering and other relevant programs. Details about the individual programs and their application process can be found on the specific program websites, e.g. https://biology.stanford.edu/ or https://med.stanford.edu/stemcell. Decisions on graduate admissions are made collectively by the departments and not by individual faculty. All PhD positions are fully funded through the completion of the degree. Students are not responsible for paying their tuition and will receive a stipend, health insurance and other benefits.
We also accept master's degree students through Stanford's Coterminal Master’s Program. Once accepted into a graduate program, interested students should email Dr. Red Horse directly, with an attached CV.
Additional resources on graduate school applications can be found here and here.
